With over 10% of the commercial auto insurance market share, there is no doubt Progressive is a standard-bearer for both individual vehicle and fleet risks.
Progressive is widely known for its branding campaigns, (most notably Flo), and do a good job of staying top of mind. But it isn’t just good marketing that keeps Progressive on top, they have an entire team dedicated to solving the needs of commercial auto insurance risks, from sales to underwriters to claims adjusters.
Not to mention their rates are competitive and the coverage is good.
However, it’s important for you to understand there are many other insurance carriers that write a substantial amount of commercial auto insurance. While Progressive is a great option, they shouldn’t be a foregone conclusion.

Progressive Commercial Auto Insurance Questions
The key to finding the right commercial auto insurance is working with the right insurance professional. Your insurance professional should be asking:
- What are you doing with your vehicles?
- Who is driving your vehicles?
- Where are they driving?
- What functions do those vehicles perform?
- What is your loss history?
- What type of training do you have in place?
- What type of safety procedures do you have in place?
- Do you have apps on your phone that reduce distracted driving?
- Do your drivers wear earbuds so that any phone calls that come in are taken hands-free?
The answers to these questions factor into pricing out a commercial auto insurance program in which, Progressive may be the best option or someone like Cincinnati, Chubb or even Travelers may be the best option.
My point in sharing this video is to say that if you have Progressive commercial auto insurance, it’s very likely that you’re in a great place. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about or to be concerned about if Progressive is your commercial auto insurance carrier.
That being said, there are many other options in the market and working with an insurance professional who’s going to hold your hand in choosing the best commercial auto insurance carrier is the way to go.

The Rub
Making this decision on your own can often lead to you overpaying. There are nuances to commercial auto insurance and building out an insurance program in general that can be lost on someone who’s trying to DIY their insurance.
And if your insurance professional is not having an annual strategy meeting on marketing your account to the insurance carriers that would be interested in your type of risk, then you may want to reconsider your relationship.
At Rogue Risk, this is exactly what we do.
